Harpo's Recession Antidote?

People have been sending me text messages and emails about this all day...

So apparently Oprah's buying (COUPON) everyone a 2 piece meal at KFC. Important to note: you can print the coupon up to four times...

a few thoughts:
-Internet, computers, printers, and ink cartridges sell out across the country.
-While the stock for pigs continues to plummet, the stock for chicken goes through the roof.
-At the end of this 2 week special, in order to recover KFC will no longer sell food (chicken), they will only sell drinks the for 2 years.

and this is what KFC will look like for the next two weeks...

"No Chicken?!? Or are they just outta chicken?"

The Fallen and Forgotten Champion

I could feel his muscle tissues collapse under my force. It's ludicrous these mortals even attempt to enter my realm.

Mike Tyson's downfall ≠ Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, or Don King but Robin Givens...

ok he was a little crazy too...

Self Checkout

Back in my college days, I would scan organic fruits and vegetables as non-organic pesticides, insecticides and herbicides filled fruits and vegetables b/c it was cheaper...

Its not that I don't do it now b/c I know that it is unethical but b/c the grocery store that I go to doesn't have self-checkout...

and yes I definitely saved a lot of dinero doing it..

Economy goes down, Lottery goes up...and Chick-Fil-A wins

Everyday during lunch I walk by a PowerBall TV and everyday I get more tempted to test my luck...

Every morning a crowd will gather around that TV, patiently staring to see if their numbers hit...and i've noticed that crowd has been getting bigger and bigger. Kind of like the crowd you would see at a Soup Kitchen...people standing in line knowing they are gonna be served sh!t but thinking maybe just maybe today they [the kitchen] will server grandma's cooking...

although you can't blame us for being optimistic...

You know, how come you never see a headline that reads 'Psychic Wins Lottery?' Hmmm...Is it b/c Psychic's are phony or Lotteries are phony or both???

"We chicken nugget, we dip in the sauce like mop and bucket
Blue-collar scholars, who'll take your dollar and wipe my ass wit it
You livin for the lotto never hit it..."
~Andre 3000

sidenote: speaking of chicken nuggets...yo Chick-Fil-A is expensive as hell now!!!! well actually it always has been expensive but $7.43 for i nicely breaded, specially seasoned, mouth-watering piece of chicken, waffle cut fries (dipped in bbq) and a sweet tea that makes you wanna slap yo mama is f'n ridiculous!!!

Moreover for as much as you pay for their food you would expect Chick-Fil-A to buy stronger straws. The straw shouldn't crack or bend when you try to take it out of the wrapper...point, blank, period.

Now McDonalds straws, the ones w/ the two strips that look like a pair of Ronald McDonald's socks, oh yea them joints don't break/crack...

Chick-Fil-A food is bangin' but i'm just saying...

Mix Tape Guide/Rules

Photobucket

Just thoughts...

This post orginated from another unpublished post I wrote a while back...It was a post about music and how I discovered certain songs. Within this post I mentioned how I would wait by the radio (FM 92.3, Tha Beat) to tape 2pac's Do For Love when it first came out. It was nineteen nighty seven yall and it was my intro to the art of making a mix tape...

When I say mix tape, I mean the processing of combining together various songs to create some form of cohesive emotion and/or feeling on an Cassette Tape and not on a playlist and/or cd...

The art of making a mixtape required the mastery of the play, record, and pause button. Nowadays it is a lost art form...but w/ the advancement of technology that is understandable...

Let me stress the use of a Cassette Tape. Unlike a CD and/or Playlist, a cassette tape lacks the ability to skip from song to song, the mix tape needs to be considered in its entirety. This requires the mix tape creator to consider the transitions between songs, the effects caused by juxtaposing a soft song with a loud song, and the overall "narrative arc" of the entire tape.

"To me, making a tape is like writing a letter — there's a lot of erasing and rethinking and starting again. A good compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do. You've got to kick it off with a corker, to hold the attention (I started with "Got to Get You Off My Mind", but then realized that she might not get any further than track one, side one if I delivered what she wanted straightaway, so I buried it in the middle of side two), and then you've got to up it a notch, or cool it a notch, and you can't have white music and black music together, unless the white music sounds like black music, and you can't have two tracks by the same artist side by side, unless you've done the whole thing in pairs and...oh, there are loads of rules..."

Life Resolution/Determination

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty. to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Pump It Up

It's 09 and looks like its gonna be another roller coaster year...hopefully we will all have a smile on our face when the ride is over...

"Out in the fashion show,
down in the bargain bin,
you put your passion out
under the pressure pin.
Fall into submission,
hit-and-run transmission.
No use wishing now for any other sin.

Pump it up until you can feel it.
Pump it up when you don't really need it."
