check mate!

i remember when i started playing with lego, b/c of my friend richard, we used to build all kind of stuff. basketball courts, swimming pools, mansions, spaceships, guns, rockets....you the stuff you kids think about. That is what i love about legos, the possibilities are endless, especially now-a-days when they are coming out with all kind of new pieces. At the end of last year i bought the Batmobile lego set...i think it was an attempt to revert to my childhood...and could believe how complex lego is getting. if me and richard tried to build a lego set when we were younger it would've looked like a boxcar w/ a rocket in the back...


so i decided to see what else lego was up to...they have some pretty cool stuff coming out, pretty soon lego is going to release a chess set! i know what you are thinking "wtf..", but check out the pic it pretty cool...

those little moments...

this is what happens when you sit by the extra chalkboard in a classroom and there is some extra chalk sitting there....you draw the classic battle scene in "star wars iv - a new hope" when luke and han solo are shooting down on-coming tie-fighters...(this is for matt, james, and ben)


or this is what happens when you don't pay attention in japanese class...you customize the pictures in the course book...


or this is what happens when you don't pay attention in biology...you draw a hand-gun on the back of the syllabus....


or when your in soil science and you get a little confidence (b/c of picture above) and draw your hand and your pant leg in the same picture...

According to will.i.am, founding member and frontman of Black Eyed Peas, the "Yes We Can Song" was inspired by Senator Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign and especially the speech Obama gave following the New Hampshire primary. He states, "It made me reflect on the freedoms I have, going to school where I went to school, and the people that came before Obama like Martin Luther King, presidents like Abraham Lincoln that paved the way for me. . . ." Dylan says, "The speech was inspiring about making change in America and I believe what it says and I hope everybody votes."

The music video includes excerpts from Obama's speech and appearances from several celebrities: Scarlett Johansson, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Adam Rodriquez, Amber Valetta, and Nick Cannon. "I'm blown away by how many people wanted to come and be a part of it in a short amount of time. It was all out of love and hope for change and really representing America and looking at the world," will.i.am said.

Glow in The Dark Tour

so i have been looking for a concert to go to...no one in mind really. I looked up ticket info for concerts in atl...and i saw that the bravery have a show and it's $16 holla!!!! lol...i was even thinking about ballet, plays and musicals and stuff but then i came across this:

According to Kanye’s blog, this is the end of the world as we know it. The “Glow in the Dark” tour, coming to a city near you, will be featuring the Louis Vuitton Don himself, Kanye West. In addition to Mr. West, the boys from N.E.R.D. (Pharrell, Chad Hugo, Shae), Rihanna, and Lupe Fiasco will all be featured on the tour as well. There are no official dates or what cities the tour will hit, but we can assume that the tour will start in the Spring and conclude in the Fall and will go through most major US cities.

Under the Influence

These 9 drawings were done by an artist under the influence of LSD -- part of a test conducted by the US government during it's dalliance with psychotomimetic drugs in the late 1950's. The artist was given a dose of LSD 25 and free access to an activity box full of crayons and pencils.

First drawing is done 20 minutes after the first dose (50ug)

An attending doctor observes - Patient chooses to start drawing with charcoal.

The subject of the experiment reports - 'Condition normal... no effect from the drug yet'.


pic 2: 85 minutes after first dose and 20 minutes after a second dose has been administered (50ug + 50ug)

The patient seems euphoric.

'I can see you clearly, so clearly. This... you... it's all ... I'm having a little trouble controlling this pencil. It seems to want to keep going.'


pic 3: 2 hours 30 minutes after first dose.

Patient appears very focus on the business of drawing.

'Outlines seem normal, but very vivid - everything is changing colour. My hand must follow the bold sweep of the lines. I feel as if my consciousness is situated in the part of my body that's now active - my hand, my elbow... my tongue'.


pic 4: 2 hours 32 minutes after first dose.

Patient seems gripped by his pad of paper.

'I'm trying another drawing. The outlines of the model are normal, but now those of my drawing are not. The outline of my hand is going weird too. It's not a very good drawing is it? I give up - I'll try again...'


pic 5: 2 hours 35 minutes after first dose.

Patient follows quickly with another drawing.

'I'll do a drawing in one flourish... without stopping... one line, no break!'

Upon completing the drawing the patient starts laughing, then becomes startled by something on the floor.


pic 6: 2 hours 45 minutes after first dose.

Patient tries to climb into activity box, and is generally agitated - responds slowly to the suggestion he might like to draw some more. He has become largely none verbal.

'I am... everything is... changed... they're calling... your face... interwoven... who is...' Patient mumbles inaudibly to a tune (sounds like 'Thanks for the memory). He changes medium to Tempera.


pic 7: 4 hours 25 minutes after first dose.

Patient retreated to the bunk, spending approximately 2 hours lying, waving his hands in the air. His return to the activity box is sudden and deliberate, changing media to pen and water colour.

'This will be the best drawing, Like the first one, only better. If I'm not careful I'll lose control of my movements, but I won't, because I know. I know' - (this saying is then repeated many times).

Patient makes the last half-a-dozen strokes of the drawing while running back and forth across the room.


pic 8: 5 hours 45 minutes after first dose.

Patient continues to move about the room, intersecting the space in complex variations. It's an hour and a half before he settles down to draw again - he appears over the effects of the drug.

'I can feel my knees again, I think it's starting to wear off. This is a pretty good drawing - this pencil is mighty hard to hold' - (he is holding a crayon).


pic 9: 8 hours after first dose.

Patient sits on bunk bed. He reports the intoxication has worn off except for the occational distorting of our faces. We ask for a final drawing which he performs with little enthusiasm.

'I have nothing to say about this last drawing, it is bad and uninteresting, I want to go home now.'
