I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. You'll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone's laughing at the right parts, then making sure you laugh just a little harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that you're still the only one who really, really gets it...

RIP Radio Raheem

"Viewers who question the riot's justification are implicitly valuing white property over the life of a black man..."

Motherfuck a window. Radio Raheem is dead

Impressionistic Polaroids

When I was around 10 years old I remember watching a local morning news report about Polaroid manipulation. The segment told the story of a guy who had been given a Polaroid camera by his father and "accidentally" found a way to change the photos into mini artwork...

The following pictures are not photoshop'd but instead they are physically manipulated while the polaroid is developing...

Because the emulsion in Polaroids is gelatin-based, and the Mylar covering does not allow water vapor to readily pass, the emulsion stays soft for several days, allowing artists to press and manipulate the emulsion to produce effects somewhat like impressionist paintings.

This is a pretty good video explaining how to manipulate polaroids...

Pretty cool huh?!?

I just bought a old school Polaroid SX-70 off of ebay yesterday (you know I had too). Hopefully I'll have it in my hands next week!!! Although I got the camera for a great deal (cheap as hell), film is gonna cost me a bit of change but in the end it'll be worth it...

****You can only do this w/ the now discontinued (since 2006) SX-70 film. This technique will NOT work w/ the still available (but hard to find) Polaroid 600 film. Just wanted to let you know before you go and start investing in Polaroid equipment like my dumba$$ did...****

AJ III True Blues

People said they were never gonna retro these again but I guess a recession will make a company rethink its strategies...

Where the Wild Things Are

Another movie that I'm looking forward to is Spike Jonze' Where Are The Wild Things.

Although I wasn't going nuts like the rest of the kids in kindergarden, I still enjoyed the story...the parts that I can remember...

Whether this movie translates well and appeals to adult and kids alike...one thing for sure is w/ the poster below and others it looks promising...

Voodoo

I found a pretty good mini documentary on one of my favorite albums...D'angelo's magnum opus...Voodoo.

"The term R&B doesn't mean what it used to mean. R&B is pop, that's the new word for R&B...(Contemporary R&B)'s a joke, and the funny thing about it is that the people making this shit are dead serious about the stuff they're making. It's sad—they've turned black music into a club thing."
~D'angelo circa 2000

Ironically this album...more specifically this video caused D'angelo to lose his mind and possibly is explains his 9 yr absence from the music scene...

I heard he was making a comeback...possibly this year???

This is why house inspections are important...

Show this to you dog and he/she should understand...

I know its getting cold out there but be sure to TURN OFF your electrical blanket...
Photobucket

You would've thought this mad scientist understood the concept of electricity...

Who reads books outside w/ electrical lamps but just in case you do...

Surprisingly, milking a cow under an electrical lamp is the leading cause of electrocution every year...

"The Greatest"

One of my favorite movies, Ali, by one of my favorite directors, Michael Mann.

I always find inspiration when I watch this movie. Don't worry it doesn't make me want to pick up a pair of boxing glove...I was thinking more along the lines of filmography.

Great movie...check it out!
