Voodoo

I found a pretty good mini documentary on one of my favorite albums...D'angelo's magnum opus...Voodoo.

"The term R&B doesn't mean what it used to mean. R&B is pop, that's the new word for R&B...(Contemporary R&B)'s a joke, and the funny thing about it is that the people making this shit are dead serious about the stuff they're making. It's sad—they've turned black music into a club thing."
~D'angelo circa 2000

Ironically this album...more specifically this video caused D'angelo to lose his mind and possibly is explains his 9 yr absence from the music scene...

I heard he was making a comeback...possibly this year???

How old is fifteen really?

I think I've posted just about every second of this stand-up....but this routine is pure genius!

Barnes Dance

The one night that I spent in the Shibuya district of Tokyo during my excursion in Japan in 06' was nothing unbelievable...and not long enough...

I was by myself that night...away from the other study abroad students...and this pic reminds me of a few things I did that night:

-I walked back and forth through this crazy intersection several times that night...

-I bought a cup of coffee at the Starbucks on the right...

-I bought two cd's from the HMV; Donny Hathaway's These Songs for You, Live and the Lost in Translation soundtrack...

-I bought an Epiphone SG 400 from a guitar store that was somewhere off on the left of this pic...

good times, good times...

thanks Barnes.

The high-tops are better...

imo i think they look better...

Kanye X LV highs...

Curious Case of Forrest Gump?

Niki and I both thought Ben Button bared a similar and charming resemblance to a movie about another guy who was born under unusual circumstances...

"Its exactly like Gump....except no Aids..."

lol

All jokes aside, they are both great and memorable movies and although they are similar, the concept and central point of the two stories are completely different. don't let the vid mislead you...Ben Button isn't Forrest Gump redux.

and one more note, the similarities may be due to Eric Roth...he wrote both screenplays...

Life Resolution/Determination

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty. to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

This movie scared the sh!t out of me when I was younger....

While other kids watch w/ wonder at the locaol daycare...armon sits in the corner w/ the look of a deer caught in headlights, afraid for his life...

i could handle the mountain thing, the trolls, and even the evil wolf monster...but the dog worm, not so much...i thought that was the scariest looking thing ever and the main character is riding it! wtf is up w/ that?!?

and how annoying was that damn song...

Leave Nothing

Nike has a great reputation for makes some of the best commercials. They lived up to their expectations last year w/ their "Leave Nothing" campaign...

Two of my favorites...

First up is the commercial directed by one of my favorite directors, Michael Mann. This commercial stars Shawne Merriman (San Diego Chargers) and Steven Jackson (St. Louis Rams). The song is called "Promentory" from The Last of the Mohicans.

The next commercial is made by the man behind the genius of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, David Fincher, featuring LaDainian Tomlinson (San Diego) and Troy Polamalu (Pittsburgh Steelers). The song is called Ecstasy of Gold from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Obama-mobile

Not sure if this is legit but this is one serious Cadillac!

And I thought my Grandpa's Caddy was loaded...

Photobucket

Just a few thoughts on this Obama transformer...

-This car probably weighs as much as a herd of elephants...

-Who needs 20" rims when you have Kevlar-reinforced tires with steel rims underneath?!?

-"Defense" accessories include: Night vision cameras, pump-action shotguns, tear gas cannons.

-Although it only gets 8 miles to the gallon(?!?), the petrol tank can withstand a direct hit thanks to a special foam and armor-plating.

-8mpg and a top speed of 60mph. Better hope the driver only has to escape go-carts and only has to go 10 miles.

-The driver's window opens so he can pay a toll? What, they don't have EZ-Pass on this thing yet?

-And to top it off...It comes with bottles of blood compatible with the President's blood...just in case..

Pump It Up

It's 09 and looks like its gonna be another roller coaster year...hopefully we will all have a smile on our face when the ride is over...

"Out in the fashion show,
down in the bargain bin,
you put your passion out
under the pressure pin.
Fall into submission,
hit-and-run transmission.
No use wishing now for any other sin.

Pump it up until you can feel it.
Pump it up when you don't really need it."

"My work is about making candy for the eyes. It’s about grabbing your attention. Even though my work is appearing in magazines I am trying to make a large picture. I want my photographs to read like a poster."
