The real world...year 1.

This time last year I was walking across the stage and beginning the next chapter in my life...Post undergrad, welcome to the "Real World"...

I can't believe it has already been a year...and its crazy how much has changed since then...

Do I miss the days of undergrad...yes and no...the social scene was cool and I had a lot of fun...but I hated the homework, test, papers, long nights in McNair studying...basically everything I did in school that was graded on a scale of 100.

times flies...

Candace Johnson (Miss NC A&T SU 07-08) and me at graduation, December 15th 2007...

"The Greatest"

One of my favorite movies, Ali, by one of my favorite directors, Michael Mann.

I always find inspiration when I watch this movie. Don't worry it doesn't make me want to pick up a pair of boxing glove...I was thinking more along the lines of filmography.

Great movie...check it out!

Mirror's Edge

The video below is in-game footage of a game that came out last month called Mirror's Edge. A lot of hype surrounded this video game after this vid premiered at E3. The game's instills a freedom of movement not yet seen in the first-person genre. Its physics and movement is based off of a form of training called, Parkour.

Watch the vid to see what I'm talking about.

I tried to do something like this when I was 14 yrs old. I jumped off my friends balcony and I thought I was cool until I tried to stand up. Foot broken into pieces!!! Thats when my dumba$$ thought I was invincible...never again!

Night Time Is the Right Time...

Saw one of my favorite Cosby episodes over the break...

Richard Pryor

One of the greats...

"I'm slower and some days are better than others, but I'm a fighter...I believe the ability to think is blessed. If you can think about a situation, you can deal with it. The big struggle is to keep your head clear enough to think."

Just to give you a heads up, I'm heading home early tomorrow morning, so you may not hear from me until next week...

Although it seems that things change every year back home...it's still home. It should be a good break...it'll be almost a whole week...should be refreshing...

well if you don't hear from me until next week then I'm probably stuffing my face and letting my ~itis set in as I lay on the couch....

And the stars look very different today...

coffee table + books: Wall and Piece

The thing I hate the most about advertising is that it attracts all the bright, creative and ambitious young people, leaving us mainly with the slow and self-obsessed to become our artists. Modern art is a disaster area. Never in the field of human history has so much been used by so many to say so little.
~Banksy

Banksy is a well-known pseudo-anonymous British graffiti artist and his artwork can be seen around the world. It is often-satirical pieces of art on topics such as politics, culture, and ethics. His street art, which combines graffiti writing with a distinctive stencilling technique...

I've been following him for a minute and his work always impresses me. He is one of the best...

His work is not limited to graffiti...for example last month he opened up a gallery in New York called "Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill"

1 yr. down.

I can't believe its been a yr. already.  I'm surprised that I've kept it up this long.  The pic above is where it all started.  Everything I needed was in this picture...oh those were(n't) the days...

The ironic things is I started this blog 3 days after niki and we weren't even talking to each other then...

The Answer

I don't follow any particular team in the NBA but if Iverson is in the lineup I'm rooting for them and him...

I'm glad he made it out of Denver and landed back in the Eastern Conference...he is on a better team, Detroit Pistons, and has a better chance of making it to the finals this year.

Even w/ Billups, Denver is at best a 6th seed...

As real as it gets...

Ever wondered what photoshop looked like in real life?!? Art Snob Solutions made it possible...

No this isn't a screenshot from the desktop of my computer, it seems safe to say that this display is tangible, and was not created by computer graphics, or even...Photoshopped!

Addiction: Video games

Today was a sad day for the gaming world after hearing about a Canadian teen named Brandon Crisp and he, like may kids his age (15) and older, played video games. A few weeks ago his parents became concerned about their son after realizing his "addiction" to playing Call of Duty 4...and after seeing how it was affecting their son's social life and grades, they decided to take away his Xbox 360.

This action ended up backfiring on them and Brandon ran away...this happened almost a month ago on October 10th...

I was hoping this story would end happily but unfortunately it didn't. Sources have reported that on November 5th hunters discovered what is believed to be Brandon's body in a field near what had been the police search area. An autopsy is currently underway to determine the cause of death and confirm the identity. Sources said they didn't suspect foul play. Click HERE for the developing story.

This story is so sad and I can relate to it b/c I, like Brandon and millions of other kids around the world, play video games. Although I don't play them as much as I used to, I understand the "dependency" that people have on them (whether good or bad).

I also understand the concern the parents had...When I was younger my mother took away my Playstation too...b/c of my supposedly "addiction". It ended up working for me and I realized how much time I was spending/wasting playing it but that doesn't mean it is the only way to address/fix this "problem".

Ironically, the game I play the most right now is Call of Duty 4.

When they eventually address gaming addiction there will be a fight to point the blame. Do you blame a video game company b/c they delivering product, the family or both?
