Mirror's Edge

The video below is in-game footage of a game that came out last month called Mirror's Edge. A lot of hype surrounded this video game after this vid premiered at E3. The game's instills a freedom of movement not yet seen in the first-person genre. Its physics and movement is based off of a form of training called, Parkour.

Watch the vid to see what I'm talking about.

I tried to do something like this when I was 14 yrs old. I jumped off my friends balcony and I thought I was cool until I tried to stand up. Foot broken into pieces!!! Thats when my dumba$$ thought I was invincible...never again!

Addiction: Video games

Today was a sad day for the gaming world after hearing about a Canadian teen named Brandon Crisp and he, like may kids his age (15) and older, played video games. A few weeks ago his parents became concerned about their son after realizing his "addiction" to playing Call of Duty 4...and after seeing how it was affecting their son's social life and grades, they decided to take away his Xbox 360.

This action ended up backfiring on them and Brandon ran away...this happened almost a month ago on October 10th...

I was hoping this story would end happily but unfortunately it didn't. Sources have reported that on November 5th hunters discovered what is believed to be Brandon's body in a field near what had been the police search area. An autopsy is currently underway to determine the cause of death and confirm the identity. Sources said they didn't suspect foul play. Click HERE for the developing story.

This story is so sad and I can relate to it b/c I, like Brandon and millions of other kids around the world, play video games. Although I don't play them as much as I used to, I understand the "dependency" that people have on them (whether good or bad).

I also understand the concern the parents had...When I was younger my mother took away my Playstation too...b/c of my supposedly "addiction". It ended up working for me and I realized how much time I was spending/wasting playing it but that doesn't mean it is the only way to address/fix this "problem".

Ironically, the game I play the most right now is Call of Duty 4.

When they eventually address gaming addiction there will be a fight to point the blame. Do you blame a video game company b/c they delivering product, the family or both?

Madden: 20 yrs in the making...

To some August 12th is a holiday, not nationally recognized but to gamers alike, every year mid August marks the yearly release of the latest installment in the MADDEN football series.

I heard over the past couple of years, especially when the PS3 and Xbox 360 came out, companies have come to expect/accept the fact that their employee's (ironically) take the day off when Madden is released. It sounds funny and rather childish to think that a grown man would take work off for a video game but it true...

How has this come to past...its 20 yrs in the making.

Past - Madden 89

Present - Madden 09

it definitely has come a long ways...not only in graphics (as seen from above) but in gameplay...

As for me, I'll be in my cubicle bright and early Tuesday (12th) morning...

Air....Piano???

Omer Yosha has created a pretty cool instrument. The Air Piano is an electronic piano of sorts that lets you play notes without touching any keys. It uses infrared technology to detect movement and plays a music note based on where the movement came from. If you leave your hand hovering over a spot the Air Piano will sustain the note. It also appears that you can change octaves by raising or lowering your hand over one of the sensors. It seems that infrared technology has come a long way from the days of the Sega Activator.
