I rode the train this weekend (friday)...i was traveling from atl to g'boro to get the last of my furniture and stuff. I would have drove the tercel to g'boro but i didn't feel like driving 11 hrs (roundtrip) or renting a truck w/ a tuggy thingy. besides it was my first time riding the train...so i figured why not...i am always up for a new adventure/exp. so i came prepared w/ snacks (cinnamon pop-tarts and pepsi), music, magazines (complex) and my notebook.
to begin, i borrowed a pen from a girl sitting next to me...she was cool, convo'd a little bit, i thought about it but nah...so no i didn't get the "digits". partly b/c I "overheard" her talking on the phone about where and why she was taking the train and going to where she was headed...she was going to see her sig. other...so, ya know...but honestly, i don't think i would have tried either way...
after i got the pen...i began to write...here are a few thoughts and scribbles from that 7 hr train ride...
-"damn, i forgot my camera!"
-"man, this pen smells like strawberries and peaches...gotta be that victoria's secret lotions stuff...........man i miss that smell..."
-"you know, Unbreakable was a really good movie...probably his (M. Night Shyamalan) best, besides The 6th Sense...and Lady in The Water suck'd! I wanted to like it but...i couldn't, man it was bad! " being on the train, reminded me of the beginning of the Unbreakable...i.e. the train wreck scene...
-then i looked at the pamphlet in the seat and thought..."why do the ppl in the Passanger Safety Instructions pamphlet look so calm or unconcerned? if this train fell of the tracks...i wouldn't be calm..."
-we rode by some towns that looked like the wild west...square buildings w/ hand painted signs and swing doors...but i found it funny b/c there would be two BIG A$$ illuminated golden arches sitting right next to em'....kinda ruined everything...
-"i hate tipping just b/c..."
albums that i listened during my trip:
-gnarls barkley - odd couple
-led zeppelin - physical graffiti
-nikka costa - everybody's got their someting
-wes montgomery - incredible jazz guitar
-tupac - me against the world
-smashing pumpkins - mellon collie and the infinite sadness
some the albums i didn't listened to all the way through, i skipped tracks or listened to the same song 5x in a row...
i have more thoughts to post but i'll save those for future post...
all in all the train ride was comfortable, spacious, had power sockets in each seat, diner/lounge, nice, comfy, recline able seats w/ the foot rest thingy. If i'm not in a hurry on my next trip/adventure then i might consider taking the train.
