top 5 mix

post is for jerry...

about 2 weeks ago, a friend and I started talking about our past relationships and how we f*ck'd them up or they didn't work out (probably b/c we f*ck'd them up..lol). its funny, we realized that the answer to fixing those problems of our past relationships were so obvious. it was a long night for the both of us...partly b/c of the alcohol there were lots of emotions flowin', especially when we starting talking about our more serious relationships and we found the best way for us to describe our heartbreak, regret, sadness, etc...were through songs. so we opened up itunes and turned the speakers up...

i complied of songs that we listened to that night and made a list top 5 songs of my own. fyi...i was inspired to make this list after watching a movie called Hi-Fidelity, where the main character creates several top 5 lists about different things in his life (mainly love)

i found that songs today didn't describe my feeling quite like as some of the songs back from back, back in the day...lol...and although the studio version is great, the live version of the songs had that raw energy, feelings, and urgency...

DISCLAIMER: IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH A BREAKUP AND ARE REFLECTING ABOUT AND FIND THESE SONGS AND PLAY THEM, I ADVISE YOU TO BRING THE TISSUE BOXES!!! IF YOU ARE NOT CRYING BY THE END OF THIS MIX...THEN YOUR NOT IN LOVE OR YOU DON'T HAVE A SOUL...SORRY!

top 5 live (concert) breakup/heartbreak/love songs
--------------------------------------------------------
1. so, it starts w/ you thinking about your gone or long lost love...and you play
Ain't no Sunshine by Michael Jackson (version)

2. then you think well, maybe there is still a chance...
Maybe by Janis Joplin

3. then you realize that there ain't a way and you imagine your former girl/guy singing this song to you...
Ain't no Way - Aretha Franklin

4. but you don't want to accept...
I've Been Loving You - Otis Redding

5. and then the kicker (if your not crying by now, trust, you will on this one)
A Song For You - Donny Hathaway

#5 was one of the earlier songs that we played that night and i was done by the time that song was over...

honestly, its kinda funny now but at the time...dayum!

this post doesn't have same effect with out the songs...i couldn't find any videos of thelive version of some of these songs (jackson, franklin, or hathaway) on youtube or the internet, but i have them on my computer so i'll try to post them somewhere...
