every time i think of this book, i think of my childhood and my childhood friend, richard...we were like brothers...and i associate our friendship with a lot of things, b/c in part he introduced me to them, such as; basketball, drawing, nickelodeon, legos, playboy magazine's (lol)...and i guess shel silverstein as well.
honestly, i couldn't tell you a single poem from the book but the one thing i distinctively remember are the drawings in the book...especially the cover. they are nothing special but i guess its one of those things that you come across and you don't think it has any relevance to you (and it might not at that time) but one day you may find yourself at your job that you don't like (hate) and something triggers it...
its funny how these books were labeled as children books...but once you take a closer look and read between the lines the poems/stories have a much deeper meaning. My personal favorite of his books are The Giving Tree and The Missing Piece Meets the Big O (my fav of his). like Where The Sidewalk Ends, The Missing Piece Meets the Big O is a book that i aimlessly came across a while back and now makes a lot of sense to me.

yeah i know another post w/ a sad, sappy tone...i apologize...i'll try to do better...
